However, he won’t be alone in the ballot. A number of other aspirants are likely to challenge him for the top seat.

So far, a few have expressed their interest in the presidency. Some are yet to come out but are expected to do so as the country gears to the general election.

Here are some candidates who are likely to face off with Uhuru for the top seat:

1. Abduba Dida

ARK leader Abduba Dida

We all know Dida after he surprised many by vying for the presidency in 2013 as an independent candidate. Dida became a darling to many especially through his humorous nature. However, he did not make but pulled a surprise by defeating quite a number.

He is likely to try his luck yet again come 2017.

2. Moses Wetangula

Ford Kenya leader and CORD co-principal Moses Wetangula

He is a CORD co-principal and is determined to get the coalition’s ticket to be the flag-bearer. However, he has indicate he will quit the coalition if he is not picked for as the presidential candidate.

This means he will go alone and face off with Uhuru Kenyatta.

3. Martha Karua

The former Gichugu MP and minister in the Mwai Kibaki government also vied for the seat in 2013 but lost. Even though she has been quiet over presidential ambitions, Karua is likely to take another shot at the presidency.

Musalia Mudavadi

The Amani National Congress (ANC) leader is determined to be on the ballot come 2017. He took a shot at the presidency in 2013 but also lost to Uhuru. Mudavadi has said he will only join the CORD if he is assured of the presidential ticket.

Raila Odinga

Raila Odinga left Germany on Wednesday night

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader has vied for the presidency three times and lost. He is in line to vie for a fourth time, perhaps his very last time. The ODM has indicated that only Raila will be on the ballot to face Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kalonzo Musyoka

Yet another CORD co-principal, Kalonzo is also likely to go for the seat if things work or don’t work out for him in CORD.
