A year ago I was a regular smoker. I used to smoke at least 2
cigarrates every day. I had not graduated to chain smoking. That was
good for me because if I had been a chain smoker it would have been
harder for me to quit.
Smoking is harmful to your health. Most of the health complications are
result of smoking both smokers and passive smokers are always affected.
This post is for those people who are willing and ready to quit.
It will be not an easy journey but I promise you will feel much better
and fulfilled after you quit. You will also be able to save more money
which could have been wasted in smoking which is harmful to your health.
This are the tips to help you quit;
SET A SPECIFIC DATE TO STOP SMOKING
If you were smoking one packet each day. Set a specific date and promise
yourself to smoke less. Start by buying less thus you will be sure you
won’t smoke a packet from that day. Do this every day and continue
reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke gradually till you reach 2
or 3 smokes each day. Don’t attempt to quit smoking all together at
once. The withdrawal symptoms are overwhelming and it’s always hard to
deal with it.
BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF
Remember you are not the first one to try this. I as the writer of this
article did it!! Many people have also succeeded. Trust yourself you can
do it. No one can believe in you except you yourself. Start by having
positive thoughts and the right attitude. Be prepared mentally and know
it’s going to be a rough journey but you will get through it and emerge
victorious.
This is the most important step to everybody trying to fight addictions.
In believing yourself everything is possible. Yes you can.
BE DERTIMED ABOUT DOING IT AND FIND AND INNER VOICE IN YOURSELF TO DO IT
After believing yourself I advise you to be determined to do this.
Without determination you won’t be able to fight your addiction. Know
you will face challenges including some your friends and family
discouraging you because they think you won’t make it. Know that you
will have to fight withdrawal symptoms.
WRITE ABOUT IT
The best way to quit smoking is by writing. Write a journal about your
progress and share it your friends. Writing about it will make it feel
like it’s not a lonely journey share it with your friends on social
media and update them about your progress .Their positive comments will
give a good impact to your progress.
JOIN A GROUP OF ADDICTS OR FORMER ADDICTS WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY QUIT
Go to meetings and talk about your challenges and progress.” No man is
an island no man stands alone” This is a famous saying. And it’s always
true listen to other people’s testimonies and use them. Former addicts
will always share their secret plan in quitting the habit so make sure
you take notes and make use of the tips.
SEE A DOCTOR
Quitting is hard so I suggest to always seeing a trained specialist and
they will give you the best tips and ways to quit successfully. A doctor
will also see you through all the process so you will not feel alone
while doing it.
Quitting smoking might be hard but its something achievable. There
are many benefits of quitting the habit. For a healthy and long life
let’s all quit smoking. We need a smoke free world.
